Pokemon moves..
I know you're working on it and dealing with enough bug reports, but some of the attacks just flat-out need to be changed. Like Wrap.. Every time it's used, it traps a Pokemon, and it is a pain. Lower the % of it actually going to trap its opponent. And confusion... Fix it to where confusion is read and dealt with first.. I don't like critting or super-effecting myself with confused hits. You're not going to super-effect or crit yourself with Magnitude 10 are you? Unless you're a Pokemon that's weak to ground, maybe... Anyways.. My suggestion is to look back on the games and see how they were set up. I'm not saying your game is bad. I'm just saying that some of these things are annoying.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Well this test is here to point out what needs to be changed, if you found alot of things that are not like in the game, prove it to me and ill work on it.
Did you report these things?

Re: Pokemon moves..
All but the confusion problem.. and prove it to you.. Don't you have the games? Emulators and Roms?

Re: Pokemon moves..
Wrap works how it should in Gen 1. I do agree that it'd be nicer for us if it's changed a little to the mechanics for Gen 2+ but it's all good.
Wrap has 85% accuracy.
Even though it says about critting yourself when confused, I don't think it takes more damage than normal. Just a little text error.
There should be a topic for discussion for some of these bugs.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Yes. I agree that even though we're wrapped, we should be able to still attack.
As for showing you... Unless I can make videos to send to you, there is no other way than to tell you to look up the games' mechanics online. Since I have played every Pokemon game, I can help you out with what needs to be what. And, if I can't figure it out, there are tons of other players here.
Another note... Experience should be gained after each Pokemon defeat, not at the end of the entire battle. This means, say my Pikachu gets into a trainer battle who has 3 Pokemon... Pidgey is defeated, Pikachu gets experience then. Another Pokemon comes out and my Pikachu defeats Sparrow.. Another set of experience is awarded to Pikachu. And, etc... You get the idea? The reason I make note of that is because it sucks when you battle and your Pokemon don't get experience for their involvement in one Pokemon's faint, and gets defeated by another.
Fly is also not evading the effects of attacks, which probably means Dig and a few other moves also are still "vulnerable."

Re: Pokemon moves..
Hey man, Chill. He he.
I don't think you know the mechanics of bug reports.
You report it as clearly as possible, he will check it and he doesn't understand them or couldn't replicate them, he would post it in the bug fixes why it didn't work. This way he won't be bombarded with other bugs. Remember, this is Alpha, bugs are meant to happen and are annoying and he will fix it when he has time.
Well back to topic, I checked and double checked some of this attacks for the sake of saving Fint some time. First,
Wrap:
And at 4:25 in the video, Ekans uses wrap and the other one attacks.
Also take note the player pokemon gains exp when fainting a Pokemon.
Even though it happens in the game, I'm still not for it.
Idk about the other, but on future occasions please use the Bug Report on top of the game. Bug fixes are posted regularly.

Wrap:
- Spoiler:
Generation II Onwards
Wrap does damage for 2-5 turns. Unlike the first generation, both user and target will be able to attack during the attack's duration. The damage dealt by Wrap will apply to the target at the end of every turn. While the target is wrapped, it cannot be recalled. If the target uses the move Rapid Spin while wrapped, it will be freed from the Wrap

Re: Pokemon moves..
I know. That's why I have already reported the bugs I have come across.
And Wrap is annoying because it stops you from doing anything and it always succeeds. If the opponent only knows Wrap, that's very annoying. I know Fint is working on it.
You are 'still not for' what? Experience after fainting one Pokemon? That's a lot better than getting nothing and may lose. Since it's hard to level up a lot, that would be helpful if we're facing trainers or gym leaders.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Yeah, I found some video's on youtube which show how it works in gen1.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LhE-L8YE2a8
pokemon can also gain levels, and learn new moves during trainer battles as shown in the following video.

Wrap only has 20 PP and is a normal type move. Also, if you switch pokemon and bring your original back out, it's no longer wrapped. Please, don't hurt my wrap attack... my ekans wouldn't like that...

I find wrap to to take to much time to use I want to get things down fast...

Fint wrote:The exp thing, is that how it works in the real games?
Yes, it does work that way. If need be, I can send you an emulator and a pokemon game so you can find out.
..
And I agree with the Doc.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Ekans is a pretty useless pokemon, I think wrap needs to be buffed or revamped like this thread is trying to do.

Re: Pokemon moves..
No. The purpose of this thread is to get Wrap fixed so you can attack while being wrapped, and other moves that people can post on here that need to be fixed.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Like how Dream Eater is supposed to only do damage to Sleeping Pokemon, but atm it works no matter the opponent's status.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Also, one of the main problems is that pokemon, when they evolve, don't learn the moves associated with their evolved form, for example: a caterpie evolves into a metapod at level 7, and never learns harden, or a metapod evolves into butterfree at level 10, and never learns confusion.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Butterfree learns Confusion at 12, and yes.. It doesn't show.. At least I caught an Abra later on and don't need Butterfree any longer.
Btw, I already reported that a while ago.

I hope so, because I recall Butterfree learning it in the "demo" server a while back.

Yea and im tryin to stay on topic here but with the TM's that u get like rock tomb, that did not work and i am hoping we get a refund on it!!
Re: Pokemon moves..
Wrap? I remember wrap doing three hits of damage with a low chance to paralyze and if it does trap, it trapped for one turn and then wrap had around a 10% change to hit and paralyze afterward. It was also a weaker attack, kind of a midway between an attack like tackle and sand attack, it's a status effect and a damage attack, with a high PP amount that means the attack will be generally weak all together, but has the chance of status effect. Other attacks like Ice beam are very strong and have high chance for status effect but have very low PP around 15, while wrap has around 40-50 as I remember.
Basically, when working otu how much damage an attack is going to do it's best to trhow them into classifications by:
-# of hits
-Status effect
-PP amount
Afterward, you can easily determine the amount of Damage, % of status effect and the actual total amount and it'd be easy to make a more balanced damage system.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Yeah, but Fint's trying to make it like the actual games.. Not guess what the damage does. And Baralai15, you are on-topic still.
For now, let's wait and see what Fint fixes.

Re: Pokemon moves..
Dude, Ice Beam has a 10% chance of freeze. That ain't high at all
Wrap's Base Power is only 15 and it doesn't paralyse you either.
